Martha "Marty" J. Hartman, 88, of Goshen died Tuesday night, July 28, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. She was born January 17, 1927 in Rensselaer to Joseph and Lura (Reed) Groom. On June 17, 1951 she married Ernest E. Hartman in Middlebury. He died November 1, 2013. She is survived by a son, Gregory L. Hartman, Goshen. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. A 1945 graduate of Rensselaer High School, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), Elkhart, where she was active in the ladies aid and visitation committee. She and her husband owned and operated the Hartman Pharmacy in Elkhart from 1947-1974. Mrs. Hartman also worked for G.T.E., High Park Physicians with Drs. Krabill and Schlabch in medical records, and at Goshen General Hospital. Visitation will be one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 funeral service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 18548 C.R. 18, Goshen. Rev. Robert G. Schallhorn Jr., of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart in the Peace Mausoleum. Memorial gifts may be directed to Trinity Memorial Endowment Fund or Lutheran Worship for shut-ins.
