Marsha Elaine Neer, 74, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026. Born on November 17, 1951, in Goshen, Indiana, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Betty Neer. She spent nearly her entire life in Elkhart County.
After graduating from Concord High School in 1970, Marsha worked in the newborn nursery caring for infants and their families. She later joined Whitehall Laboratories, where she formed many friendships that remained among the most treasured relationships of her life. Marsha later worked at Chandler Elementary School. While she took great pride in caring for the school, it was the people who made the work so meaningful.
Before retiring, Marsha turned her gift for cleaning into a successful small business, Marsha's Cleaning. She earned the trust of her clients through honesty, reliability, and genuine care, and many customers became lifelong friends.
Of all the roles Marsha embraced throughout her life, none brought her greater joy or greater purpose than being a mother.
She found great joy in music, dancing, and spending time with those she loved. A devoted Notre Dame football fan, she also remained proud of her roots as a former member of the Concord High School Alumni Marching Band.
Marsha is survived by her son, Jody Michael Neer (Megan); her grandchildren, Carson Neer (Jordan), Ethan Neer (Kayla), Graham Neer, and Hayden Neer; her sister, Linda Vucich (Nick); her brothers, Thomas Wainwright (Vicky) and Roger Neer (Marilyn); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Neer and Betty King; her brother, Jerry Neer (Rebecca); her sisters, Carolyn Welch (Bob) and Kathleen Black (Jeff); and her beloved dog, Cooper.
In accordance with Marsha's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during visitation Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest alongside her mother at Violet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marsha's memory to the Elkhart County Humane Society or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County. In honor of their grandmother's legacy, Marsha's grandchildren will match memorial contribution, dollar for dollar, made to either organization.
Marsha's life was defined not by titles or possessions, but by the love she freely gave, the friendships she faithfully nurtured, and the quiet ways she cared for others every day. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
