Marsha Hooley Miller

August 12, 1948 — July 27, 2009

Marsha Hooley Miller, 60, died Monday, July 27, 2009, under the tender watch of devoted family members on Elkhart General Hospital’s fourth floor.  She ended a brief, intense battle with lymphoma until valiantly exiting this life on her own terms. Marsha was born on August 12, 1948, to Ernest and Anna Grayce (Miller) Hooley from Shipshewana.  She learned to play ball with her older brother and met her husband, Randall C. Miller, on the softball diamond.  They were married on November 29, 1986.  Randy survives her along with five siblings:  Rita (David) Lewis, Delmar (Joan) Hooley, Cecilia (Duane) Wyse, Eric (Glenda) Hooley, and Brenda (Brian) Nebel, her mother, Anna Grayce, and many cherished nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.  Her father, Ernest, preceded her in death.  Marsha was more loving and more loved than anyone knew.  Marsha was a professional in medical billing and insurance who overcame every obstacle and influenced her colleagues to achieve excellence in every way.  Marsha was a no nonsense person who unapologetically made her own decisions and left nothing undone.  Marsha quietly and consistently followed Jesus Christ in life and worshipped at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Elkhart.  She graduated from Bethany Christian High School in 1966.   She enjoyed reading, music, sports, deep friendships, and the Sorries supper club.   She was testing new pursuits as she contemplated retirement.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 30, memorial service will be held at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 23786 Sunnyside Ave., Elkhart, led by Melissa Fisher Fast.  If you are not on time, Marsha may not wait for you. Marsha will be cremated and interred at Frame Cemetery, in Concord Township. Memorials may be given to promote the arts at Bethany Christian Schools.
