Mark S. Myers

Mark S. Myers, 95, of Goshen, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at Courtyard Healthcare.

He was born February 28, 1922 in LaGrange, Indiana, and lived there on a farm with his family until he graduated from Topeka High School in 1940.

He moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked at his brothers' upholstery shop and met his wife Betty, who he wed on March 14, 1942.

Mr. Myers served with the U.S. Army as an airplane mechanic during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines and Hawaii.

Most of his adult life he lived in Redford Township, Michigan, and worked for General Motors as the supervisor for the interior design department from 1953 until 1980.

Following retirement he resided in Kalkaska, Michigan where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming Christmas trees, spending time with his granddaughter Stephanie, and playing guitar and mandolin with friends and family. He and Betty moved to Goshen in 2005.

He was a great man with a big heart who was the greatest story teller and could make anyone laugh. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie Myers of Kalamazoo, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ford and Lula Myers; his wife, Betty Myers; two sons, Lawrence and Gregory Myers both of Kalkaska, Michigan; and five siblings, Winifred Smith, Esther Woods and Carl, Donald, and Owen Myers.

Friends may call Saturday, April 22, 2017 one hour prior to the 3 p.m. memorial service at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 502 North Main Street, Goshen.

Donations can be made to USO and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Flowers may be sent to the church on Saturday.
