Mark S. Hay

August 7, 1953 — January 4, 2023

Mark S. Hay, 69, a lifelong Goshen resident, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 on hospice in Wawaka.

He was born August 7, 1953, in Goshen to George W. Hay, III and Barbara (Seiffert) Hay. They preceded him in death.

Mark was a 1971 graduate of Goshen High School. He worked at Starcraft Boat, Topeka for several years before starting work for Penn Central Railroad in 1975. He worked for the railroad as it changed to Conrail, and then Norfolk Southern Railroad, working on track maintenance.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen and the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way, Local #1056. He acquired a love for the Indy 500 and hunting from his father.

Mark assumed a fatherly role to Susan Mora and John Fein and was a grandfather to their children. He was a faithful attender of family sporting events.

Other survivors include a brother, Matthew (Debbie) Hay of Chandler, Arizona and nephew and niece, Matthew and Alexa Hay; and his step-mother, Marilyn Hay of Goshen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. funeral service will take place Thursday, January 12, 2023 also at the funeral home. Pastor Ken Weaver will officiate.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
