Mark Elroy Yoder

February 22, 1916 — January 14, 2009

Mark Elroy Yoder, 92, of Anthony, Kansas, and formerly of Goshen, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Anthony Hospital. He was born in Topeka, Indiana, on February 22, 1916, to Maurine and Zora (Coldren) Yoder.  He married Elaine S. Plank on October 7, 1039, in Goshen.  She died November 16, 2005. A graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Yoder attended Fort Wayne Business School.  He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He managed and then owned Goshen Stamping and Tool Company until 1978 when he retired. Mr. Yoder was a member of United Church of Christ, Goshen Moose Lodge, Goshen Masonic Lodge and Rotary Club.  He traveled around the country judging for the National Beagle Association and writing for Beagle magazines. He is survived by a daughter, Roberta (James) Von Itter of Anthony, Kansas; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Carol) Yoder of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, “Suzie”; a son, John M. Yoder; a daughter, Virginia Peich; two brothers, Von and Donald Yoder; and two sisters, Phyllis Farrington and Roberta Yoder. A memorial service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24, 2009, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private graveside service and burial will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas.
