Marjorie E. Weldy, 96, of Goshen, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been since May 24. She was born in Smithville, Ohio on July 28, 1915 to the late Peter R. and Barbara (Eicher) Conrad. She married Dwight E. Weldy on June 8, 1941 in Smithville, Ohio. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (James) Martin of Greenwood, Mary (Tony) Clasen of West Liberty, Ohio, and Ruth (Kevin) Fitz-Gerald of Lexington, Kentucky; a son, David (Ann) Weldy of Monclova, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nettie Rufenacht and Elva Horst. A 1933 graduate of Smithville High School and a 1940 graduate of Goshen College, Mrs. Weldy was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen. An MCC volunteer, she was also a member of Phalo Book Club and Questers. She enjoyed entertaining friends, sewing and flowers. Friends may call 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, in the Koinonia Room, College Mennonite Church. An 11a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011, graveside service will be conducted at Olive Cemetery East, Wakarusa. A 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011, memorial service will be conducted at College Mennonite Church with Pastors Phil Waite and Pamela Yoder officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to College Mennonite Church or Goshen College.
