Marjorie L. Voorhees, 85, died early Thursday morning, December 31, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital, she had been ill the past three weeks. She was born on December 24, 1924, to the late Claude and Fern (Hepler) Gardner, in Goshen. She married Max J. Voorhees on August 18, 1946, in Goshen, he survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Voorhees also had several other jobs. She worked at Penn Electric Company, Farm Bureau Hatchery, Goshen Community School System (in food service), and Bower Mfg. She was a member of the Jefferson Brethren Church and she graduated from Millersburg High School in 1944. She is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Ron) Miller, Susan (Steve) Eby, Cindy (Don) Holdeman, all of Goshen; one sister, Oneta Bates; one sister-in-law, Maureen Gardner; one aunt, Eleanor Eisenhour, all of Goshen; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Gooch; and one brother, Garry Gardner. There will be a private family visitation and service. Her body will be cremated and buried at a later date. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ron Spyker of the Jefferson Brethren Church Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Brethren Church.
