Marjorie Stalter Summer

November 27, 1918 — August 21, 2010

Marjorie S. Summer, 91, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born in Chenoa, Illinois, on November 27, 1918, to Daniel D. and Alice (Miller) Stalter.  She married Milton G. Summer on March 1, 1938 in Manson, Iowa.  He died July 19, 1998. Surviving are three daughters, Shelby Morrisey of Goshen, Ardis (Calvin) King of South Bend, and Sharon (Roy) Axline of Goshen; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Kreider of Goshen and a brother, Milo D. Stalter of Goshen. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. A member of North Goshen Mennonite Church, Mrs. Summer enjoyed quilting and baking.  She had worked as a seamstress for Ivy Terrace, Goshen, and Custom Booth, Elkhart. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 26, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2010, at North Goshen Mennonite Church.  Pastor Dean Linsenmeyer of North Goshen Mennonite Church and Pastor Calvin J. King, son-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee.
