Marjorie A. Sherck, 92, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, May 13, 2009, at Waterford Crossing. She was born in LaGrange County, Indiana, on August 5, 1916, to Oscar and Millie (Eash) Yoder. She married Arthur D. Sherck on November 25, 1937 in Middlebury. He survives. A Goshen resident since 1939, Mrs. Sherck worked as a bookkeeper in the family owned Sherck’s Appliances from 1962 to 1979. After graduating from Middlebury High School in 1934, Mrs. Sherck began working at the Ford dealer in Middlebury. After her marriage she raised two children and worked on the family chicken farm before she and her husband owned and operated Sherck’s Appliances. Mrs. Sherck was a 65 year member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren. She is survived by her husband; a son, Bernie (Linda) Sherck of Bristol; a daughter, Julie (Jerry) Yoder of Goshen; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Dorthea Kindy and Glenna Kindy, both of Goshen and Marilyn McNichols of LaMarida, California. She was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Ristow. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at the church. A 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Pastor Norman Replogle of West Goshen Church of the Brethren and Pastor Mike Overpeck of Waterford Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or Center for Hospice, Elkhart.
