Marjorie B. Michel, 91, of Valparaiso, formerly of Goshen, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Clare Bridge Manor. She was born on April 30, 1920 in Huntington to Loren and Freda (Davis) Burris. On February 22, 1940 she married Philip Michel who preceded her in death. She is survived by two children, Judy Leeg of California and Tom Michel of Florida; four grandchildren, Bryan and Lisa Lubeck, Kristina Michel and Matthew Leeg; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Alex, Rhett, Scarlet and Aaron; and two sisters: Jane Brown and Nancy Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sue Lubeck. She graduated from Huntington High School, Goshen College and received her Master's degree from St. Francis College. Mrs. Michel taught school for Goshen Community Schools for 23 years. Since 1947 she was an active member of the Goshen First United Church of Christ, Goshen. She volunteered at Goshen Hospital helping to start the Tours and Puppet teaching. She served on Campfire Girls Board, Greencroft Advisory Board and the American Association of University Women, where she was a past president. In 2002 she was awarded the Goshen Deed Award. Friends may call 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Friday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 memorial service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain Dean Christianson will officiate. Burial was on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at St. Peter's Cemetery, Huntington, Indiana.
