Marjorie Irene Bixler, 91, of Goshen, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born July 10, 1927 in LaGrange County to Maynard and Freeda (Miller) Atwater.
On July 8, 1951 she married David Bixler.
Mrs. Bixler is survived by daughters, Patricia Bixler of Goshen, Barbara (Gary) Lamb of Indianapolis and Joyce (Sajjan Wadhwani) Bixler of Long Beach, California; sons, Alan Bixler of Sandia Park, New Mexico and Donald (Nancy) Bixler of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter and four siblings, Margaret Miller of Bristol, Madonna Price of Ames, Iowa, Marilyn (Bill) Emmert of Albion and Mark (Clara) Atwater of LaGrange.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Martha Lou Neff and Merlin and Maurice Atwater.
A registered nurse, she graduated from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing and Goshen College. She was employed at Elkhart General for more than 40 years and was named the 1992 Employee of the Year. Mrs. Bixler was a member of College Mennonite Church where she served on the committee concerned with hunger and food concerns.
Visitation will be Monday, May 6, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Tuesday, May 7, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.
Private burial will be in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen College or Bread for the World.
