Mariya A. Goncharova, 84, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, August 1, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born August 16, 1928 in Vesela Dolina, Ukraine to Alipiy Pavlovich and Ganna M. (Beznis) Teplik On October 14, 1946 she married Ivan Goncharov. He died in September 1992. She is survived by three children, Svetlana I. Merezhko of Goshen, Lydia I. Koshiy of Ukraine, and Nikolay I. Goncharov of Russia; 23 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two children, Vladimir I. Goncharov and Yekaterina I. Chornobab; and four siblings. Mariya survived the atrocities of World War II in the Ukraine. Mrs. Goncharova came to the US in July 2002 from the Ukraine. A godly woman, she was a member of the Slavic Baptist Church, Elkhart. A good seamstress and cook, she raised most of her grandchildren. A 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, funeral service will be conducted at the Slavic Baptist Church, Elkhart. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
