Marion S. Carlin, 89, of Goshen, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born December 19, 1922 in Lansing, Michigan to Winburn and Tressa (Myers) Carlin. He married Margaret F. Barden March 4, 1947 in Fort Wayne. She died April 28, 2010 after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Ron) Wagner of Bay City, Michigan, Susan Cline of South Bend, and Janice (Larry Stickney) Carlin of Ligonier, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Dan) Nelson, Bryan (Heather) Cline and Michael (fiancée Amanda Melton) Cline; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kylie and Tyler Nelson, and Nolan and Caitlin Cline. He was preceded in death by his sisters, June Grinstead and Joann Cross. A lifelong Goshen resident, Marion often said he opened Parkside School in 1927. A graduate of Goshen High School, he served with the Army Air Force. A longtime member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, he worked as an accountant. He enjoyed playing golf, more golf and more golf, and working outdoors. He also enjoyed being with his family with whom he generously shared his time, talents and funds. Cremation will take place, per Marion's wishes. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Plymouth United Church of Christ. Pastor Linda Sue Hewitt and former Plymouth U.C.C. minister Terry Tessari will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth United Church of Christ.
