Marilyn J. Yoder, 84, of Goshen, passed away early Monday morning, Sept. 15, at IU Health Goshen Hospital where she had been since Sept. 6. She was born Nov. 26, 1929 in Archbold, Ohio to LaVern and Dora (Miller) Burkholder. On Aug. 15, 1958 she married Vernon D. Yoder in Archbold. He died March 25, 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Anita (Bryan) Kehr of Newton, Kan. and Diane Yoder of Goshen; two sons, Curt (Joanna) Yoder of New Paris and Chris Yoder of Rockville, Md.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Elden) Heimbach of Selinsgrove, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Donnabelle Burkholder and a brother, Eugene Robert "Bob" Burkholder, both of Archbold. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, LaVern J. "Bud" Burkholder. An area resident since 1964, Marilyn graduated from Goshen College in 1954. She taught elementary school for 20 years. She also worked at Mennonite Mutual Aid from 1978 to 1993. She was involved in fantasy football and ran the Greencroft Grannies fantasy football team. An active member of Waterford Mennonite Church, she taught Sunday school and was involved in the Thursday morning prayer group. Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Waterford Mennonite Church where a memorial service at 10 a.m., Thursday morning, Sept. 18, 2014 will be conducted. Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Waterford Mennonite Church Sharing Fund.
