Marilyn J. Haney, 93 of Goshen passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Goshen Hospital.
She was born in Nappanee on January 16, 1927 to John E. and Florence E. (Orn) Gardner.
She graduated from Milford High School in 1945 where she was a cheerleader.
On March 28, 1947 she married Robert A. Haney at her parents’ home in Syracuse. He passed away on January 10, 1994 after almost 47 years of marriage.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Gary R. (Cinda) Haney of Goshen, Steve R. (Ginny) Haney of Mount Morris, Illinois and David M. (Kelly Cheek) Haney of Bend, Oregon; grandchildren, Robert P. (Trysha) Miller of Lawrence, Megan E. (Shaun) Wilson of Brownsburg, Ryan W. (Holly Adams) Haney of Goshen, Eric C. (Courtney) Haney of Greenwood, Andrea K. (John) Kruse of Elkhart, Kara L. (Kate Wertin) Haney of Seattle, Washington and Alison J. (Matt) Tomlinson of Warsaw; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; a sister, Leatrice Rapp of Milford; and a sister-in-law, Cinda Gardner of Milford.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda K. Miller in 1984; a grandson, Brett Miller in 1973; and a brother, John E. Gardner, Jr. in 2017.
Marilyn was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where she was a deacon, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a long-time volunteer as a gray lady at Goshen Hospital.
Marilyn was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, crafts, card games and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. A 10 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 celebration of life will take place at Goshen City Church of the Brethren, 203 N. 5th St., Goshen with one hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the church or Cancer Resources for Elkhart County.
