Marilyn A. Davis, 85, of Elkhart, passed away into Jesus' arms on Sunday, January 31, 2016, while wintering in Mesa, Arizona.
She was born August 3, 1930 in Nappanee to Roy and Uretha (Frederick) Burkholder.
Survivors include two children, Tempa A. (Fred) Davis of Union, Michigan and Max A. (Mary Ann) Davis of Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Loyal, Howard and Dallas Burkholder and a sister, Evelyn Flickinger.
She retired after 32 years of service with Miles Laboratories and Bayer as a production employee.
Marilyn was a member of Elkhart’s First Baptist Church, since the 1970s. In earlier years she loved being involved in church activities, especially singing in the choir and participating in Easter cantatas and Christmas programs. She was inspired by Christian music, especially men's quartets and family singing groups. She and her friends enjoyed Christian musical groups and attended many concerts in the area.
Marilyn was happy to join her family for traveling vacations across the western US, Alaska and Hawaii. After retirement she spent many winters in Arizona and springs in Arkansas visiting her children. She loved all of God's nature and enjoyed bird watching, boating on the lake, and growing vegetables and flowers.
Marilyn was known for saying “I am blessed, thank you.” She was happiest worshiping and serving the Lord, loving her family and being kind to everyone she met. She was always willing to offer a hug, a prayer and a comment of love and concern; we will miss her sweet spirit and warm, loving smile.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the 3:00 p.m. Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church, 53953 CR 17, Bristol. Pastor Phil Byars will officiate.
Memorials may be given to the church or Center for Hospice Care.
A private family service and burial will be on Monday in the Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
