Marilou Stiffney

Marilou Stiffney, 87, of Goshen, died Friday, November 19, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare Center. She was born at her family’s farm home in Noble County on November 18, 1923, to Roy and Lola (Scarlett) Rice.  She married Robert Stiffney at her childhood home on November 20, 1948.  He preceded her in death in 1992. Surviving are sons, Rick (Kathy) and Kirk (Susan), both of Goshen and Mark (Betty Jo) of Ten Sleep, Wyo.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Max (2004) and Ronald (1981).  Marilou and her husband raised their three sons in Albion where they were members of Trinity United Methodist Church.  A Rome City High School graduate, she worked as a stenographer and executive secretary at McRay Refrigeration, Kendallville.  She held various jobs including homemaker, school cook, and abstract researcher.  Her passions were music; serving as church organist, traveling; family camping trips and visiting her son’s ranch in Wyoming, and hospitality; hosting family/friends in her home and at church.  After her husband’s death in 1992, she remained in Albion for 5 years and then moved to Greencroft in Goshen where she lived independently until a sudden illness this past July.  Marilou was a quiet and faithful servant of the Lord who had a meaningful impact on the lives she touched.  Friends may call 3:30 to 8p.m., Tuesday, November 23, at The Gathering Room at Evergreen, on the Greencroft campus, Goshen. A 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion.  An 11:30 a.m., memorial service will follow at The Gathering Room, with Pastoral Assistant Pamela Kling officiating. Memorials may be made to Greencroft Foundation, 1721 Greencroft Blvd., Goshen, IN   46526 or Ten Sleep Baptist Church, PO Box 339, Ten Sleep, WY   82442. Yoder Culp Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
