“E” Marie Lambright, 87, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Greencroft Healthcare after a brief illness.
She was born June 7, 1938 in Jarvis, Kentucky to John and Rebecca (Newman) Prince.
On September 4, 1963 she married Stanley Lambright. He died June 30, 2004.
She is survived by her children, Gary Smith, Goshen, Mike (Cheryl) Smith, Nappanee, Deb (Willy) Miller, Shipshewana; Susie (James) Cassel, Irving, Texas, daughter-in-law, Brenda Lambright, Elkhart; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Prince, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Along with her parents and husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by sons, Jack, John and Carl Lambright and a daughter, Rena Jones. She was also preceded by sisters Lois Centers, Ruby Johnson and Gladys Gray, and a brother Crit Prince.
Marie was a woman of deep devotion to God. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Goshen. She had a servant heart and over the years taught Sunday school, VBS, helped in the kitchen, was part of many small groups, and particularly enjoyed the “Young at Heart” group at Grace in her later years.
Family was everything to Marie. She cherished her roles as a mother and “Nana”, and nothing brought her greater joy than having her family gathered together. Her home reflected that joy as it was filled with framed photos on the walls, overflowing picture albums, and home movies capturing the precious moments she shared with those she loved.
Marie enjoyed yard sales, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing games (Rack-O and Scrabble being among her favorites), and grabbing a cup of coffee or Diet Coke. Food was her love language, and she was famous for her biscuits and gravy, “Nana Bread”, and each year her Christmas Party Mix was eagerly anticipated by all!
Marie was a caregiver at heart. For 15 years she had a small daycare in her home where children were loved and cared for like family. She also worked at Greencroft in food services where she said, “I not only serve plates of food, I also serve smiles, hugs, and words of encouragement.” She then worked as an aide, providing companionship and care to aging individuals in their homes. After moving to Greencroft, she enjoyed living at Manor II, where she created genuine friendships and community with her neighbors.
Marie leaves a legacy of faith and love for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
