Margaret Ione Yost

December 27, 1929 — December 25, 2021

Goshen

Margaret “Marge/Maggie” Yost, 91, passed from this world on December 25, 2021, at her residence at The Laurels of Goshen.

Marge was born on December 27, 1929, in Scipio Township, Allen County, the fourth of six children born to Jim and Goldie Gustin.  She graduated from Harlan High School in 1947.  She married Robert “Bob” Yost on Valentine’s Day 1950 and moved to Goshen where she spent the rest of her adult life. Bob passed away in March of 2012 after 63 years of life-loving marriage.

Marge is survived by two daughters, Mary (Larry) Wiser of Germantown, Ohio and Marcia Yost of Goshen; three granddaughters, Valerie (Brian) Martin of Wheaton, Illinois, Laura (Joe) Roberts of Muncie, and Madeline Yost of Chicago, Illinois; six great grandchildren; Caleb, Toby and Ellie Martin, and Maggie, Colleen and Charlie Roberts; three sisters-in-law, Zanna Bader of Fort Wayne, Katie Gustin of Woodburn, and Sharon Gustin of Fort Wayne, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband as well as two sisters, Marjorie (Gustin) Taggart and Maxine (Gustin) Stotler; and three brothers, Bill Gustin, Jerry Gustin, and Ron Gustin.

Marge worked for a time outside the home at Penn Controls, however, most of her time was spent with making a wonderful home and serving her church.  She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, in the UM Women and could often be found in the church kitchen.  Marge was also a member of the Bashor Home Auxiliary in charge of making birthday cakes for many years.  She loved her involvement in the Wednesday Morning Coffee Bowling League and the friends she made over those many years.  Marge was an outstanding cook, had a green thumb that could grow about anything and lived life fully.  For almost 20 years, Marge was the reservationist for Goshen High School Musicals and Crimsonaire Spectaculars.  She loved this work and treated all who called for tickets like they were special and needed the best seats she could give them.  This treatment was indicative of how she lived her life - always looking for ways to make others feel special and loved.

Marge was an incredible wife, mom, grandma and friend. She will be missed but lovingly remembered by those who knew her easy laugh, ready smile and comforting arms.

Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.

Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.
