Margaret J. Whirledge

Margaret J. Whirledge, 98, of Goshen, died January 1, 2025 at The Waters of Wakarusa.

She was born February 24, 1926 in Elkhart, daughter of Vergil and Flossie (Brown) Hodgen.

On September 10, 1949 she married Donald Whirledge in Elkhart. He died January 21, 2006.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Vogt, Goshen, Joyce (Dan) Baerg, Spokane Valley, Washington, Janice (John) Lawrence, Plymouth and Kathy (Tom) Kemner, Burleson, Texas; two sons, Bruce (Susie) Whirledge, Syracuse, and Douglas (Fon) Whirledge, Tampa, Florida; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, Gayle Shaum and Cheryl Brown; and a nephew, Steve Hodgen.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Overholser; two brothers, Morris and James Hodgen; a son, Dennis Whirledge, niece, Pat Mann; and son-in-law, Richard Vogt.

A loving homemaker, Mrs. Whirledge was a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen where she enjoyed singing special music. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains in Colorado and Wyoming, where the family would spend time together hiking and camping.

A time of remembrance will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1011 South Indiana Ave., Goshen.

Memorial gifts may be directed to First Baptist Church.

According to her wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
