Margaret A. Prough

Margaret A. Prough, 90, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at Waterford Crossing.

She was born September 10, 1935 in Goshen to Albert P. and Lois B. (Chrisman) Groff.

On March 24, 1957 she married Harry L. Prough at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. They met at Millersburg High School, with Margaret graduating in 1953. In 57 days they would have celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Harry survives along with two sons, Donald L. (Colleen) Prough, Goshen and Dexter L. (Linda) Prough, Howe; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Julia Perrin and Helen Willard; and brothers, James A. and Richard L. Groff.

She attended People’s Bible Church, Benton, Mrs. Prough worked for Middlebury Community Schools for 25 years. She was very musically inclined, playing the piano, accordion and organ for years and also gave lessons.

Margaret’s main focus was her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an encouraging person and always had a smile. Margaret enjoyed baking cookies and always had some ready or in the freezer.

Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. There will also be an hour of visitation prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 31, 2026 also at the funeral home. Pastor John Randolph, People’s Bible Church will officiate.

Burial will follow at Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.
