Margaret J. Hoogenboom

Margaret J. Hoogenboom, 96, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, August 12, 2009, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing where she had been the past three months. She was born in Goshen on October 17, 1912, to Dirk and Emma (Nolles) Hoogenboom. A lifelong Goshen resident, Miss Hoogenboom was a member of Greene Road Church where she served as church organist for more than 40 years, taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.  A 1930 graduate of Goshen High School, she was a very avid sports fan and was a season ticket holder from the 1960’s until 2009.  She was a former volunteer for both the Goshen Hospital Auxiliary and Oaklawn Hospital Auxiliary. Miss Hoogenboom worked as office manager for Independent Protection Company, retiring in 1985 after 44 years. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Hoogenboom. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Van Diepenbos and two brothers, Henry and Dick Hoogenboom. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 14, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor John Wanders of the Greene Road Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Greene Road Church or Goshen Hospital Foundation.
