Margaret Martin Fisher, 61, of Goshen, slipped away peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital, after receiving a cancer diagnosis in November. She was born October 11, 1952 in St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada, to Philip S. and Leah (Rudy) Martin. On May 17, 1975 she married James E. Fisher in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He survives along with two children, Melissa (David Fast) Fisher Fast of Elkhart and Matthew (Hannah Gustafson) Fisher of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; two grandchildren, Micah and Annelise Fast of Elkhart; eight siblings, Alvin (Ruth) Martin of Dutton, Ontario, Aaron (Loretta) Martin of Elmira, Ontario, Naomi (Nevelle) De'Rozario of Kitchener, Ontario, Armand (Ginny) Martin of Goshen, Vera (Elmer) Martin of Bowmanville, Ontario, Elma (Tim) Freed of London, Ontario, Nora (Steve McInnis) Martin of Woodstock, Ontario, and Herb (Wanda) Martin of St. Jacobs, Ontario; a sister-in-law, Lynne Martin of Winnipeg, Manitoba; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Omar Martin. Margaret was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church where she volunteered as librarian and Sunday school teacher. She worked at Bethany Christian Schools for many years, most recently as school librarian. Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, and one hour prior to service at Waterford Mennonite Church. An 11:00 a.m., funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Waterford Mennonite Church. Pastor Cindy Voth will officiate along with Pastors Velma Swartz, Lyle Miller and Neil Amstutz. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Epilepsy Foundation.
