Margaret F. Carlin, 82, of Goshen, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital, where she had been a patient since April 21. She was born in Petoskey, Michigan, on February 22, 1928, to Russell Farewell and Angeline (Case) Barden. She married Marion S. Carlin on March 4, 1947 in Fort Wayne. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Susan (Steven) Cline of South Bend, Nancy (Ronald) Wagner of Bay City, Michigan, and Jan (Larry Stickney) Carlin of Ligonier, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Bryan and Michael Cline and Kim Nelson; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kylie and Tyler Nelson, and Nolan Cline. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kathryn Barden. A 1947 graduate of Fort Wayne International Business College, Mrs. Carlin worked as office manager for Tilley Electric (Mansfield Electric), Goshen Holiday Inn, Simon Yoder Construction & Carpeting, and Clausing, until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ and the Literacy League of Elkhart County, formerly known as Altrusa. Pastor Terry Tessari, former pastor of Plymouth United Church of Christ, will officiate at a 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010, memorial service in the meetings rooms in the lower level at Waterford Crossing. Visitation will follow the memorial service. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne City, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth United Church of Christ or the Literacy League of Elkhart County.
