Margaret Ann Whirledge, 79, of Millersburg, died early Tuesday morning, March 3, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born at Bonneyville Mill, Indiana, on September 24, 1929, to Michael and Vera (Leatherman) Blood. She married Paul G. Whirledge on November 12, 1929 in Bristol. He survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Whirledge grew up on Bonneyville Mill which was owned by her father and her uncle before it became a county park. A 1947 graduate of Bristol High School, she graduated from Wesley memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1950. She worked as a registered nurse at Goshen General Hospital from 1967 to 1989. She was a member of Zion Community Church where she played organ for more than 40 years. She played organ for many weddings, funeral and accompanied her husband as a soloist. She is survived by her husband, Paul; a daughter, Karen S. (Bob) Richter of Fort Wayne; two sons, Gary M. (rose Ann) Whirledge of Goshen and Ben R. (Marie) Whirledge of Millersburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Stroup of Millersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 5, at the funeral home. An 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2009, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Fritz of First United Methodist Church of Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Community Church.
