Manasses S. Weirich, 82, of Millersburg, died of natural causes at his home Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 2014. He was born November 2, 1931 in Sikeston, Missouri, to Samuel E. and Millie (Bontrager) Weirich. On March 17, 1951 he married Edna M. Plank in Middlebury. She survives along with a daughter, Linda Weirich, of New Paris; a son, Brian (Lisa) Weirich, of Millersburg; three sisters, Mary Weaver, Elizabeth (Wilbur) Miller, and Lydia Mae (Paul) Ganger; two brothers, Joas (Patricia) Weirich, and Samuel Jr. (Verna) Weirich, all of Goshen; and two sister-in-laws, Helen Weirich, of Martinsville, and Genevive "Jan" Weirich, of Bristol. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Enos, Eli, and Levi Weirich. A long time area resident, Mr. Weirich retired in 1993 after 35 years with the Elkhart County Highway Dept. He also served on the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Dept. for 32 years beginning in 1963. He was a member of Zion Community Church, Millersburg, and was an avid Cubs fan, enjoying games whenever he could. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, graveside service will be held at Gracelawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Rev. Chris Howell will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Clinton Township Fire Dept. or the Noble County Humane Society.
