Mamie Clair Steele

November 30, 1927 — April 11, 2016

Mamie Clair Steele, 88, of Goshen passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

She was born Nov. 30, 1927 in Sparta, Tennessee to Joseph William and Mary Alice Catherine (Cloyd) Roberts.

On Dec. 22, 1948 she married Ben T. Steele in Roswell, Georgia.  He died Feb. 28, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Alan (Karen) Steele of Granger, two grandchildren, Conner and Kylie Steele, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven brothers and three sisters.

An area resident since 1970, Mrs. Steele was a homemaker and a member of the Willowdale Church of Christ, Elkhart.

Friends may call Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

Friends may also call Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, Sparta, Tennessee.

Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Sparta, Tennessee.

Memorial contributions may be given to Willowdale Church of Christ or Granger Christian School.
