Major Charles W. Gregory

February 10, 1934 — December 20, 2024

Major Charles William Gregory, a proud Air Force veteran and accomplished pilot, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at the age of 90.

Charles was born on February 10, 1934, in Paoli, Indiana, to Clarence and Gladys Gregory. After graduating from Paoli High School, he joined the United States Air Force, serving with distinction for 20 years. During his military career, he completed a tour in Vietnam, trained countless flight students as a flight instructor, and flew as a fighter pilot. His service earned him a Bronze Star and the respect of his peers.

Charles had a lifelong passion for flying and adventure. After retiring from the Air Force, he attended Indiana University, earning a degree in Business. He brought the same precision and focus he demonstrated in the cockpit to his civilian endeavors.

Charles is survived by his two children, Carrie (Ralph) Gorsuch and Rylee (Debbie) Gregory; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Christina Gregory; his parents, Clarence and Gladys Gregory; and his sister, Delora Taylor.

A celebration of Charles’s life will be held at a future date, where he will receive military honors in recognition of his service and dedication to his country.

Charles will be remembered for his remarkable career, his love of aviation, and his commitment to serving the nation.
