Maggie Lou Krauter

Maggie Lou Krauter, 94, of Elkhart, and formerly of Bristol, died Monday afternoon, June 11, 2007, at East Lake Nursing Center.  She had been ill the past three years.  She was born in Columbus, Georgia, to James Cliff and Susie Roberta (Slayton) Hubbard, on August 21, 1912.  On July 3, 1950, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, she married Paul E. Krauter.  He died June 30, 1996.   A homemaker, Mrs. Krauter was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.   She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Buck) Phillips of Colquitt, Georgia; a son, W.E. Buddy (LuDein) Downs of Bristol; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband.   Friends will be received 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home.   A 2:00 p.m., June 14, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Fr. Robert VanKempen of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bristol will officiate.   Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
