Madeleine Adolphine Weiland

Madeleine Adolphine Weiland, 87, of Goshen, died early Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2008 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born in Oberfeulen, Luxembourg, on July 21, 1920, to Mr. Schleich and Madeleine (Betzel) Schleich.  She met her husband, Harry F. Weiland at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York at the Luxembourg Pavilion.  They were married September 12, 1942 at Lake Wawasee Chapel.  He preceded her in death on October 28, 1994. A Goshen resident since 1942, Mrs. Weiland was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a former member of Maplecrest Country Club, Philomathians and Tri Kappa.  A watercolor artist, she enjoyed playing bridge, baking pies and she was an excellent seamtress.  She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Michael) Jarman of Birmingham, Michigan; a son, George (Annette) Weiland of West Bloomfield, Michigan; and five grandchildren, Nicole, Nate, Melissa, Lauren and Topher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; a daughter, Lisa Weiland in 2004; a sister, Marianne Meyers; and a brother, Emilé Schleich.  A 5:30 p.m., Sunday, March 9, Rosary Service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 9 at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen.  Father Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen.
