Mabel L. Wortinger

Mabel L. Wortinger, 95, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at home.

She was born May 9, 1927 in Goshen to Ellis E. and Joella (Mishler) Detwiler.

On March 24, 1946 she married Floyd J. Wortinger in Goshen. He died May 22, 2011.

Survivors include two children, Patricia (Patrick) O’Brien of Indianapolis and Charles R. (Sheryl) Wortinger of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Botwinski, and two siblings, Ellis Detwiler and Joann Huber.

A lifetime Goshen resident, Mabel was a very active member of Jefferson Community Church, and Extension Homemakers of Purdue. She wintered in Vero Beach, Florida for 34 years.

Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Hunn will officiate.

Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to Jefferson Community Church.
