Mabel Marie Kauffman

Mabel Marie Kauffman, 94, of New Paris, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at home peacefully with family at her side.

She was born December 18, 1927, in Honeyville to Tobias E. and Mattie (Christner) Yoder.

Mabel graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1946.  She married Menno Kauffman at East Goshen Mennonite Church on February 12, 1949.

She lived with her husband, Menno, in the New Paris area for 41 years.  She was a constant companion to her husband, on the farm and as a secretary of M&M Wood Shavings and Menno Kauffman Trucking.  She was a member of Salem Mennonite Church.

Mabel is survived by her six children; three sons, Robert (Donna) Kauffman of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, Larry (Lavina) Kauffman of Stone Lake, Wisconsin and Richard (Stella) Kauffman of New Paris; three daughters, Shirley Kauffman of Stone Lake, Wisconsin, Cheryl (Ernest) Shaver of Phoenix, Arizona and Carol (Glen) Ramer of New Paris; 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Abraham and Alvin; five sisters, Jemima, Ina, Edith, Edna and Mary Jane and a great granddaughter, Emily Grace Kauffman.

Friends may call Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Salem Mennonite Church Cabin and Monday, 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m., funeral service at Salem Mennonite Church.

Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, New Paris
