Mabel M. Gross, 89, of Goshen, died late Wednesday evening, April 15, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare. She had been ill for two months. She was born in Ottsville, Pennsylvania on May 19, 1918 to Harvey M. and Mary G. (Leatherman) Meyers. She married James B. Gross on August 19, 1939 in Bedminster, Pennsylvania. He died February 1, 1988. A homemaker, Mrs. Gross moved to Goshen in August 1991, coming from Bedminster, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Deep Run Mennonite Church East where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Women’s Sewing Circle. She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Sohar of Elkhart; a son, Gerald M. (Joan) Gross of Syracuse, New York; six grandchildren’; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Garwood L. Meyers of Perkasie, Pennsylvania and a sister, Anna Vaughn of Durham, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and a brother, Wilmer L. Meyers. Friends may call 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 19, at the Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Perkasie, Pennsylvania. A 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008, funeral service will be held at the church. Pastor Ken Burkholder of the Deep Run Mennonite Church East will officiate. Burial will be in the Deep Run Mennonite East Cemetery, Perkasie, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deep Run Mennonite Church East.
