M. Pauline Yoder, 97, of Goshen died Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 at Greencroft Healthcare, where she had been living since February 2014. She was born January 22, 1918 in West Liberty, Ohio to Elmer Lester and Bertha Florence (Yoder) Yoder. She is survived by a nephew, John Wesley (Sherry) Yoder. Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, C. Kathryn (Yoder) Shantz; and two brothers, Willis R. and Winfred L. Yoder. Pauline was a life-long educator, her career spanned for 32 and half years. She began by teaching private kindergarten classes out of her home in West Liberty. After higher education, which included a Master's Degree from Ball State, she taught professionally both in Ohio and in Elkhart. Pauline excelled in both states, serving as the President of the Logan County Teachers Association and Vice President of the Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association. Her passion for teaching, combined with an interest in photography led Pauline to establish her own business of developing and producing visual teaching aids for the classroom. These aids were used both in the United States and overseas. In later years Pauline devoted time to flower gardening which led her to co-found, along with her sister Kathryn, the Goshen Nature Club. She will also be remembered for four and a half years of service as the director of the Greencroft Harmonica Club. A graveside service will be held for Pauline on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 1 p.m., at South Union Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio. Retired Pastor, Willie Kanagy, College Mennonite Church, will officiate. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, where she had been a member for over 50 years. Memorial contributions can be made to the Greencroft Samaritan Fund or the Encircling Fund at College Mennonite Church.
