Lyda P. Hannah, 75, of Goshen, died Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2011, at her home. She had been ill 22 months. She was born April 12, 1936 in Clear Creek, Kentucky, to Noah and Nancy "Nannie" (Swinford) Gabbard. She married Richard L. Hannah on June 24, 1985 in Nashville, Tennessee. He survives. Also surviving are her son, Jeffrey G. (Becky) Boomershine of Goshen; a step-daughter, Belinda (Lee) Trantham of Clyde, North Carolina; a step-son, Rev. Daryl (Dedi) Hannah of Waynesville, North Carolina; six grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn Rhodus of Tucson, Arizona, Manie Evans of Maysville, West Virginia, Margaret Weaver and Betty Riffle, both of Goshen, and Etta Faye Hacker of Park Hills, Kentucky; and a brother, Clifford Gabbard of El Paso, Texas. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Cotton, Juanita Bailey, and Norma Lower. A 1954 graduate of Goshen High School and 60 year Goshen resident, Mrs. Hannah was a member of Faith United Methodist Church; and a former member of Maplecrest Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge; and was a fan of Notre Dame and the Colts. Mrs. Hannah worked for the Elkhart County Auditor Office, County Assessor Office, Treasurer Office and retired from the Township Assessor Office in 1998. Friends may call 2 to 8 pm Friday, September 2 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, funeral service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, corner of CR 18 and CR 17, with Pastor Larry Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow be in New Paris Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Humane Society or Faith United Methodist Church.
