Lucille Yvonne Torrance, 79, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday eveningDecember 29, 2015, at Courtyard Healthcare where she had been the past three years.
She was born October 26, 1936 in Clarence Center, New York to Archie W. and Maude A. (Miller) Byler.
On August 10, 1957 she married Richard Torrance at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. He died April 9, 2007.
She is survived by a daughter, Teresa A. (Jeffery) Martin of Elkhart; two sons, Tim (Bobbi) Torrance of Middlebury and Tyler (Cosette) Torrance of Goshen; four grandchildren, Candace (Josh) Meert, Philip (Kortney) Dilbert, Randy (Elizabeth) Martin, Rachel (Rusty) Brown; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Burkhead of Goshen; four brothers, David (Mary Ann) Byler of Phoenix, Arizona, Eldon (Pam) Byler and Robert (Sarah) Byler, both of LaGrange and Gaylord (Cathy) Byler of Stroh; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Byler of Logansport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sally Torrance; two brothers, Samuel and Richard Byler; and a sister, Delta Basile.
Lucy was a member of the Prairieview Missionary Church. She was a former member of Gospel Echoes Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Lucy also worked at Johnson Controls, Faith Mission of Elkhart and Prairie Camp in the kitchen. She was a founding member in the late 1970’s of the 4-H Poultry Club.
Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable.
Friends may call Sunday, Jnauary 3, 2016, from 1 until the 4 p.m. funeral service at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 State Road 15, Goshen.
A private burial will take place Monday at Oakridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Mission, Elkhart.
