Lucille E. "Lou" Copenhaver, 88, of Goshen, died Wednesday afternoon, December 30, 2009, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.  She had been ill since November. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 12, 1921 to the late Valentine and Viola (Keim) Mohl.  She married Clyde W. Copenhaver on December 25, 1939 in Goshen.  He preceded her in death on September 7, 2000. A member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Goshen,  Mrs. Copenhaver graduated from high school in Chicago and then attended a technical school where she learned to be a seamstress.  She was well known for her doll making skills. She worked for the National Red Cross for many years doing disaster duty.  In her later years she ran the Goshen chapter of the American Red Cross.  Before working for the Red Cross Mrs. Copenhaver was a telephone operator. Mrs. Copenhaver is survived by two daughters, Lynda Val Franchino of Spain, and Sheri Lyn Willems of Niles, Michigan; a son, Eric "Rick" Copenhaver of Canton, Georgia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Laura) Mohl of Florida; and a sister, Betty Ridderhoss of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Yvonne Mohl. There will be no visitation or services.  Her body will be cremated.
