Lowell H. Penner, 64, of Ligonier, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 5, 2026, as the result of a motorcycle accident. His longtime companion, Leah Lichtenberger, also died in the same accident.

He was born August 10, 1962 in Hagerstown, Maryland to Leonard H. Penner and Lorena (Detwiler) Penner.

He will be lovingly remembered by his, mother, Lorena Penner; children, Trae (Derek) Church, and Breana (Ryan Specht) Penner, and six grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Lee (Debra) Penner of Newton, Kansas, and Lauren (Hilary) Penner of Palmer Lake, Colorado; along with extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard and son, Cody Alexander Penner.

Lowell worked as a service technician in the automotive industry.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, in the College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall, Goshen.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 5 p.m. at The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge, 12889 N. Kern Road, Syracuse, Indiana. Cremation will take place.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to American Legion Riders c/o American Legion Post 233 designated for Toys for Tots or for Veteran’s Senior Living and Care Home in West Lafayette.

Lowell will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
