Louise E. Woods

Louise E. Woods, 77, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, September 25, 2011, at Hospice House, Elkhart. She was born May 7, 1934 in Goshen to the late Mervin and Lois (Kester) Culp. On May 3, 1951 she married Glenn L. Woods in Goshen. He survives. Also surviving are five sons, Dennis (Beth) Woods of Syracuse, Michael (Cynthia) Woods and Bob "Woodman" (Vicki) Woods both of Goshen, Glenn L. (life partner, Keith Herbrand) Woods of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Patrick, (Dawn) Woods of Goshen; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Stan) Huber of Goshen, Patty (Allen) Cramer of Elkhart, and Sally (Jerome, Jr.) Troyer of Goshen; and a brother, Lowell (Pat) Culp of North Webster. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Hoyt and Joan Amsden. A homemaker, she was a longtime member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She was well recognized as an excellent cook. She won "Best in Show" blue ribbons at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair for her homemaking skills, where she participated in the annual competition. She continued the family tradition of candy making and was well known for her delicious peanut brittle. She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Friends may call 12 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 28 at the funeral home. A 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Rinearson officiating. Her body will be cremated after the service. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or Elkhart Hospice House.
