Lou Weaver, of Goshen, died Thursday afternoon, June 19, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, where she had been since Saturday due to a hip fracture. She was born July 2, 1939 in Mishawaka to Harvey Hobart and Eliza (Smith) Hoover. On December 11, 1963 she married Lloyd "Toot" Murphy. He died December 10, 1979. She later married David L. Weaver on March 23, 1985. He survives along with a daughter, Pam (Terry) Harmon, of Millersburg; three sons, Jeremy (Deanna) Weaver, of Ligonier, Chris (Christy) Weaver, of Midlothian, Virginia, and Philip (Laura) Weaver, of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; and four sisters, Kathryn Moore, of Berne, Betty Brown, Grace Spake, both of Elkhart and Ruth (Paul) Overhulser, of Osceola. Lou grew up in Osceola graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1957. She attended Tulane Univ. and received her marketing degree from Michigan State Univ. She was a member of Harvest Church of Christ, Mishawaka, and worked as a United States Postal Service carrier in South Bend and Goshen. She also worked for Crown International; radio stations WCMR and WFRN in sales; and most recently was marketing director for Concord Mall. She loved teaching the Bible to young children at Sunday school and to her grandchildren. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, and one hour prior to a 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Minister Allen Holt will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harvest Church of Christ, Mishawaka.
