Lorna Jean Mccormick

Lorna Jean McCormick, 56, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly, Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Elkhart, on April 3, 1953, to Robert and Miriam (Bucher) Garver of Bristol.  She graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1971. A longtime resident of the area, Ms. McCormick was a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church where she sang in the girls' choir.  A gifted musician and artist, she played piano and clarinet and owned a pottery store in Elkhart.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and doing latch hook. She is survived by her parents; a daughter, Crustal (Joel) Smith of Mishawaka; two sons, Charles Mathew McCormick of Groton, Connecticut, and Walter Kilmer of Columbus, New Jersey; two grandsons; and two sisters, Rosanne June Garver of Goshen and Christine Joyce (Aronson) Huebner of Palantine, Illinois. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 12, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Bristol United Methodist Church.  Pastors Fred Stayton and R. Herbert Minnich will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol. Memorial contributions may be made to Bristol United Methodist Church.
