Lorelei June Apel

Lorelei J. Apel, 80, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born June 7, 1942, in Chicago to Louis C. and Dorothy M. (Geschke) Chiarelott.

On June 13, 1964, she married Herbert Apel in Broadview, Illinois.

He survives along with two children, Andrew (Stacey) Apel of Decatur, Illinois and Kristina (Ryan) Adams of Goshen; three grandchildren, Adam, Carter and Mackenzie; a sister, Katherine Louise (Brian) Larson of LaPlata, Maryland and a brother, Leigh Chiarelott of Rossford, Ohio.

Mrs. Apel attended Marion College, now Indiana Wesleyan University, and graduated from Wheaton College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education. Lorelei worked as a school teacher, served as a missionary in Austria, Turkey, Germany, and England, and will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and hospitable individual, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to the many people who know her.

A memorial service is planned, and is scheduled to take place in Goshen, Indiana, at Faith Lutheran Church, on September 25, 2022 at 3pm, meal to follow at 4pm. All are welcome to attend.
