Loralyn F. Novachenko

Loralyn F. Novachenko, 71, of South Bend died Friday, December 26, 2025 at Healthwin Specialized Nursing Care.

She was born April 27, 1954 in Elkhart to John and Irene (Kenaga) Detwiler.

On October 2, 1971 she married Peter Novachenko Jr. He died in 2017.

Survivors include daughter, Vanessa (Jamie Jr.) Hickner of South Bend; son, Pete (Angela) Novachenko, of Mishawaka; grandchildren, James III (Chelsea), Sidney and Stephanie Hickner; and great grandchildren, Texas James Hickner and Amelia Jean Hickner.

Also surviving are siblings David (Linda) Detwiler of Nappanee, Mark (Susan) Detwiler of Wilmington, Delaware and Kathy (Douglas) Harris of Elkhart.

Along with her parents and husband Peter, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Detwiler.

A 1972 graduate of Concord High School, Loralyn enjoyed reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren, 24955 Co. Rd., Elkhart, IN 46517.
