Lois Yoder, 96, of Goshen, died Friday afternoon, June 25, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born August 16, 1913, in Beulah, Michigan to the late Daniel S. and Frances (Zook) Oyer.  She married Carl E. Yoder on August 21, 1948 in Fairview, Michigan.  He died September 3, 1995. A Goshen resident since 1958, Mrs. Oyer retired from teaching at Jefferson Elementary School in 1977.  She graduated from Goshen College in 1938 and later from Indiana University at South Bend.  A member of East Goshen Mennonite Church, she was involved in peace and justice issues, small group and other volunteer activities.  She moved to Greencroft in 1982 where she was involved in helping to transport relatives and friends to various appointments. She is survived by a daughter, Colleen and a granddaughter, Jill, both of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Pheobe Zook Oyer; and two brothers, John and James Oyer. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 5 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at East Goshen Mennonite Church.  Pastor Steve Slagel will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Mennonite Mission Network or Mennonite Central Committee.
