Lois I. Kiebel, 90, of Elkhart, peacefully went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013, at Hubbard Hill Estates, where she had been a resident the past three years. She was born August 21, 1922 in Elkhart to Melvin and Elsie (Garl) Hunter. On December 31, 1946 in Elkhart she married John W. Kiebel. He died on December 20, 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Patrick) Michael, of Goshen, and Rebecca (James) Carlton, of Lima Peru, South America; two sons, Steven (Voni) Kiebel, of Columbia City, and William (Kaki) Kiebel, of Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Daniel in 1981; and a sister, Louise Filbert. Mrs. Kiebel was a 1947 graduate of North Central College, Naperville, Illinois, where she received her B.A. in social work. She worked in the Elkhart County welfare department of family services, but was primarily a homemaker and mother to her children. She was a strong Christian woman and prayer warrior. Her faith was a defining part of her life. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 funeral at Hubbard Hill Chapel, Elkhart, led by Chaplain Dave Severance. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to World Missionary Press or Sugar Grove Church.
