Lois I. Fidler, 84, of Goshen passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born August 14, 1940 in Sturgis, Michigan to Ledger and Leona (Magnus) Eddy.
On February 28, 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, John Fidler. He survives along with three children, Kelley J. Fidler of Middlebury, Stephen L. (Shelly) Fidler of Goshen and Karen (Shayne) LaCounte of Goshen; seven grandchildren, Brad Webb, Carly Decker, Alli Batt, Joel Fidler, Sara Kupke, Dylan Downing and Shelby Downing; 15 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lavonne DiGirolamo of LaGrange and Linda (Mike) Miller of Goshen.
A 1958 graduate of Goshen High School, Mrs. Fidler was very involved in the Goshen Community earning the Diakonia Award, along with John, from Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club in 2014; the Child Advocate Award in 2005 from CAPS, Parade Marshall for the Elkhart County Fair in 2003 and the Goshen Health Lifetime Healthcare Leadership Award in 2002. She volunteered at Head Start and Meals on Wheels and served on the CAPS and Camp Fire Boards and the Dollars for Scholars Committee. She was a member of the YWCA, Library Club, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and Maplecrest Country Club. For the past 22 years the Fidler’s have provided a Christmas party complete with a meal and gifts for the Cadets at the Goshen Boys and Girls Club.
Her most treasured memory is spending winters at their condo in Hawaii that they have had for the last 35 years. Every other Christmas the entire family planned their holiday vacation to be together in Hawaii.
Lois was also an active member of Goshen First Church where she had been a member since 1959.
Visitation will be Monday, August 26 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at Goshen First Church, 214 S. 5th Street, Goshen. Pastor Diana Siegel will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
