Lois Irene Collins

Lois Irene Collins, 75, of Goshen, died Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital.  She was born December 23, 1934, in Goshen to Hughbert and Goldie Lucille (Fissgus) Straw. A lifelong resident of Elkhart County, Ms. Collins worked at Elkhart Door Manufacturing as a punch press operator until her retirement in 1996.  She attended the First Baptist Church of Goshen. Ms. Collins is survived by a daughter, Pamela (George) Gama of Goshen; two sons, James Edward Collins, Jr. and Garry Lee (Renee) Collins, both of Elkhart; five grandchildren;  five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Mae Gross of Nappanee and Lucy (Tom) Kurtz of Elkhart.   She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Ann Collins; a sister, Mary Sue Gay; and five brothers, Carl Dean, Wayne Ray, Joseph J., Charles Daniel and Hughbert Straw, Jr. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 p.m.  Rev. James Shrock of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
