Lloyd "Jack" Stump

Lloyd “Jack” G. Stump, 94 of Goshen passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing surrounded by his family.

He was born May 6, 1922 in Goshen to Lloyd C. and Elsie (Sunthimer) Stump.

On July 5, 1947 he married Phyllis Werner in New Paris.  She died June 23, 2007.  He later married Nancy Lantz October 25, 2014.

She survives along with his sons, Thomas W. (Karen) Stump of Goshen and John H. (Tish) Stump of Syracuse; step-children, David (Sally) Lantz of Indianapolis and Eric (Christina) Lantz of Goshen; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Stump of Goshen.

Along with his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Stump; a sister, Donna Vanderryden; and a step- granddaughter, Dr. Sarah Lantz.

Jack was a 1940 Goshen High School graduate.  A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Portland.

Following his military service, he returned to the area and worked at St. Joseph Bank of South Bend prior to his work at Salem Bank and Trust, Goshen.  Mr. Stump had 40 years in the banking industry before his retirement as Chairman of the Board.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.  He was also a member of Elcona Country Club and the Lions Club.  He served on the Goshen School Board, County Election Board and the 4-H Fair Board.

Always encouraging others to be involved in their community, Jack stayed active while health allowed.  He enjoyed tennis, golf, reading and spending time with family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 funeral service will take place.  Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery with military honors.
