Linda Joyce Kaufman, 76, of Goshen, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Goshen Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born April 9, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Thomas Ansel and Catherine Leah (Wentzel) Fletcher.  She graduated from Normandy High School (St. Louis, MO) and attended St Luke’s Nursing School, graduating first in her class in 1964.  She married Arlan D. Kaufman on June 11, 1966.

Linda was a long-time resident of Newton, Kansas, where she raised a family with husband Arlan, worked as a nurse and attended Faith Mennonite Church.   After moving to Goshen, Linda attended Assembly Mennonite Church and lived at Evergreen Place, Greencroft where she enjoyed their social activities. She was a life-long learner and instilled the value of education in her children and others.  Even in retirement, she attended Goshen College Life-long learning classes and was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing games, doing word puzzles and helping others. She adored her grandchildren and crocheted blankets for each of them. She also enjoyed tending her small garden and flowers.

She is survived by her husband Arlan Kaufman, formerly of Newton, Kansas; three children, Michael (Sonja) Kaufman of Lawrence, Kansas, Cheryl (Brian) Mast of Goshen, and David (Sydney) Kaufman of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Mariah, Mikayla, and Sophia Kaufman, Mackenzie, Tristan and Toby Mast, and Cole and Adler Kaufman; and six siblings, Jim (Cathy) Fletcher of Lees Summit, Missouri, Tom (Jackie) Fletcher, Gail (Dan) Harashe, Mark (Jayme) Fletcher, Judi O’Mara, and Scott Fletcher all of St. Louis, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Donna (Harry) Neufeld of North Newton, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on May 25, 2019, at 3pm at the Gathering Place at Evergreen Place, 1300 Greencroft Dr, Goshen.
